Wow, that's ridiculous. Here's a Bush who's actively
tried to fight racism, and promote higher education, so
let's not give him an honor we normally give anyone who
donates enough $$.
Not that anyone really cares about or needs an honorary degree to begin with. Just seems they want out of their way to slight him.
It doesn't seem much like news to me. Could you imagine if
there was a story every time I didn't get an honorary
degree. It seems like the article in and of it self has the
potential to make Jeb look bad. It leans to the left simply
on the editor's acceptance of news-worthiness. However,
the language of the story is objective and if anything a
little to the right. Bush is touted as having benefited the
school, and it seems that this kind of refusal by the
school's senate is unheard of.
Don't be confused Alex, just because a story irritates you, doesn't mean it is biased. The bias you have called into question is with the U of F, not with the associated press.
You're right in that the article is written without bias,
but nail on the head: why is this news?
