First of all, let me state clearly that this is not news.
It is not even supposed to be. This is an editorial. This
is one person expressing his/her opinion.
Let me begin to make my second point by asking a question. Why is this being voted as left biased? Take a second and really think about it. It is critical of the current administration, but does that mean that it is liberal in nature? It seems to me that the author is calling into question the government's abuse of power. It seems to me that the essay is advocating restraints on the power of government. The author does not really call for the creation of new driving tests/regulations/requirements. He/She merely suggests them to illustrate the invasiveness of the Patriot Act. The author's main complaint is with the size of the government and their abuse of civil liberties. This is traditionally a conservative issue. True conservatism champions individual rights and fights to limit the size of the government. Liberalism on the other hand attempts to achieve/facilitate social goals through public organizations(big government). This article, whether the author intends it or not, is advocating a conservative agenda. Anti-bush administration does not equal liberal bias. ... IMO Anti-bush administration simply equals common sense. |
